Situation 


A leading international financial services group with extensive real estate assets relied heavily on manual, Excel-based processes for consolidating, reporting, and forecasting cash flows across its diverse portfolio. These processes involved manual data exports from multiple source systems and ad hoc third-party data submissions, leading to inefficiencies, data quality challenges, and limited scalability in reporting and forecasting activities. 

 

Approach

The project team implemented an automated and scalable Anaplan-based solution to enhance consolidation, reporting, and cash flow forecasting. Key features included:  

  • Integration automation using tools like task runners, data integrators, and API scripts to pull data from multiple systems into the planning platform. Data sources included: Yardi, Investran, DealPath.  
  • Development of secure, access-controlled pages for manual upload of third-party property manager data.  
  • Creation of detailed standardised reporting pages for leasing, occupancy, financial performance, cash flow forecasting, budget management, debt covenants, and return metrics.  
  • Implementation of interfaces connected to downstream reporting tools to ensure refreshed and consistent data flow.  
  • Role-based access controls to maintain data confidentiality at asset and segment levels. 

Impact

The solution significantly improved the reliability, granularity, and consistency of financial and operational reporting. It streamlined end-to-end processes for data consolidation and reporting, strengthened forecasting capabilities for cash flows and distributions, and simplified the production of recurring management reports. This automation enabled the organisation to replace cumbersome Excel models with a more user-friendly and scalable system, improving operational efficiency and data governance.
